Cycling apparel is professional sportswear crafted with high-tech fabrics, elastic fibers and precision stitching including chamois pads. Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential to extend service life, maintain functional performance and ensure hygiene. Below is the full maintenance guide for cycling wear:
1. Pre-wash Preparation (Key Pre-treatment)
Timely cleaning Wash the cycling apparel as soon as possible after riding. Prolonged retention of sweat, grease and bacteria in fabric fibers will cause fabric hardening, odor generation and fiber corrosion.
Sorting & inspection Wash separately. Do not wash with jeans or garments with zippers and hook-and-loop fasteners to avoid fabric scratches. Empty all pockets, zip up zippers and fasten hook-and-loop tapes before washing to prevent fabric damage during machine washing.
Local pre-treatment For heavy stains such as sweat stains on chamois pads and local mud stains, apply undiluted neutral detergent to the stained areas, leave it for a while and rub gently. Never scrub violently with hard brushes.
2. Size & Wearing Tips
How to choose size Cycling jerseys adopt compressive & elastic cutting. We recommend true-to-size or one size smaller for a tight fit and lower wind resistance. Please refer to the size chart and simulate riding posture when trying on.
Wear underwear or not Not recommended. The chamois pad is antibacterial and sweat-wicking for direct skin contact. Underwear causes friction, stuffiness and bacteria. If necessary, wear ultra-thin seamless underwear.
Separated vs One-piece Separated suits are easy to wear, ideal for beginners and daily riding. One-piece suits offer better aerodynamics and tight fit, perfect for long-distance and competitive riding.
3. Washing & Maintenance
Hand wash below 30°C with neutral detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. If machine wash, use a laundry bag and gentle mode, turn clothes inside out and zip up. Do not wring. Lay flat to shade dry and avoid direct sunlight to prevent fabric aging and pad hardening.
To remove odor, wash promptly after riding. Soak in warm water with vinegar or lemon juice for better deodorization.
4. Function Instructions
Pad replacement Some high-end modular shorts support pad replacement. Please contact customer service for upgrade or replacement.
UV protection durability UPF protection gradually fades with washing and sun exposure. Normally it lasts 1–2 years.
Pocket capacity Pockets fit phones, keys and small riding supplies. Do not carry heavy items to avoid affecting riding comfort and safety.
Sleeve modification Do not cut or alter sleeves, which will damage aerodynamic cutting. You may roll up sleeves properly.
